The journal has been under evaluation since 2006, and has met the rigorous standards for inclusion in this important resource. All issues since the journal’s inception in 2003 can be accessed in the aforementioned products, or at the journal’s website, www.jarvm.com. IJARVM is an “Open Access” journal, and full text is viewable on its website. The International Journal of Applied Research in Veterinary Medicine is a multidisciplinary, peer reviewed, "rapid publication" journal. Its mission is the publication in a timely manner of fundamental scientific, diagnostic, and treatment knowledge gained from prospective and retrospective research. The sole criterion for publication is scientific accuracy. According to Thomson Reuters Director of Publisher Relations Marian Hollingsworth, “It typically takes three years from inclusion for a journal to have a measurable Impact Factor. Under the current timeframe, IJARVM will be have an Impact Factor in June 2010, and be included in the June report.” Impact Factors are determined by dividing the number of citations in journals included in the Current Contents database by the number of published articles in a calendar year. According to Ms Hollingsworth, “all editorial components of IJAVM will be counted as articles.” Editor Kelli Howell noted that “all past corresponding authors to the journal will be notified of the journal’s Impact Factor when the June 2010 study is released. We’d like to acknowledge all of the past contributors who have helped the journal achieve this significant milestone.” The International Journal of Applied Research in Veterinary Medicine is the only peer-reviewed, rapid publication journal in the field of veterinary medicine included in the Current Contents database. |
